An end of an era for Kansas City race fans. KCIR closes their doors for good.

We are seeing an end of an era and we couldn’t be sadder to see the closing of KCIR. After 44 years in the Kansas City Community they will be closing their doors. We are even more disheartened because Gale put an offer in to buy the track and save the KC landmark. The city outbid us and will now turn it into a soccer park. We will continue to race around the country and at Topeka Heartland Track but, it won’t be the same as our local track most of us have raced since we were young.
KCIR Fans and supporters turned out in force in heavy rain November 14th to protest the sale turning it into a park. Nearly 100 people were in attendance were unhappy the deal was pushed through so quickly without the opportunity to be heard and wanted to let officials know their displeasure with the process.
We would like to thank all of those involved in KCIR for the memories. You will be missed!

The different types of classifications for a classic car.

What do you want to do with your car? If you want a show car, there are two types. You have the trophy winners that go to a show and never lose, but are never driven and can make for a good investment. You can also have a nice car that gets just as many ohs and ahs and may still win a trophy or two ever now and then. But you can drive it and enjoy it.

If you do want a driver you still have to decide if you want an all original, a cruiser, or a pro touring. An all original is just what it says. It is a car that is just the way it came from the factory and has not been modified. A cruiser is a car that has a good motor, transmission, and maybe a late model suspension and brakes. They are more reliable and can be driven with less break downs or headaches. A pro touring is a highly modified car with a built motor and new transmission and a new late model suspension, disc brakes, tire, wheels etc… It is like a brand new hotrod that just came off the showroom floor, but is one of a kind.

They all have there good and bad points, but you need to know what you want before you go shopping so that you get the right car for you. If you have the right car it will bring you many good times and memories

The many reasons to consider buying a classic car.

There are many reasons to buy a classic car. First, they are a good investment if you do your homework and find a rare car for the right money. However, like most investments this means you can’t play with it. You should take care to keep it up and out of harms ways, keep it clean and in good condition. A little scratch or mishap could cost you thousands to repair.

Second, they bring back a lot of memories for a lot people. Maybe it is a dream car you have always wanted when you were young but couldn’t afford or it’s the same car as your first. Then again you might just like a good conversation piece or a little something you can show off down the road.

Third, is to compete in competitions for money and/or just to join the competition community. Competition is a fun way to spend your time and a great way to meet people with the same interests as you. Even if you don’t have a car you can always show up at local car shows or competitions to talk about your passion for classic cars. Shows are also a great way to get ideas for your next project.

Whatever your reason for looking into classic cars as an investment or a great hobby, there is no denying they are fun! Even if you just want to cruise to the local diner or enjoy the weather with your top down, classic cars offer a nostalgic feel and pride you just can’t get from today’s models. But remember, classic car buying is like mining. You have to dig and dig to ensure you find a gem, “good luck and happy hunting!!”
